Caritas Community Clinic

For more than 40 years, the Caritas Clinic, which is the Latin term for charity and love, has been meeting the Denver community's growing need for acute illness treatment, chronic disease management, as well as prevention and screening services.

Medical Services

The Caritas Clinic is staffed by Internal Medicine residents who treat a broad spectrum of adult illnesses which includes heart, lung and gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, arthritis and others. General Surgery residents work in the Surgery Clinic, which provides pre- and post-operative care for minor and major surgical procedures accomplished in either inpatient or outpatient settings. All necessary hospitalization is coordinated at Saint Joseph Hospital.

Payment for Services

The Caritas Clinic provides a sliding fee schedule for self-pay patients. Patients are given the opportunity to discuss their financial situation privately with a financial counselor who determines their fees according to Federal poverty guidelines. No patient is ever denied services due to the inability to pay.

The clinic participates in Colorado Access, the State of Colorado Medicaid Program, but we are unable to service patients with Denver Health Medicaid. It is necessary to present your current Medicaid card to the receptionist when checking in.

The Caritas Clinic also participates with Medicare, Secure Horizons, as well as other Medicare Advantage insurance plans.  Please call your insurance company to inquire about benefits and providers.

Your Healthcare Team

On your first visit to the Caritas Clinic, you will be assigned to a resident physician who will be your Primary Care Provider (PCP). Every effort is made to schedule your appointments with your PCP or their team member. Due to high demand for services, there are times when you may be seen by a different resident physician or by a nurse practitioner.

If you need to call the clinic, please follow the phone menu prompts to be sure that your call is handled promptly. If you need to speak with a provider, your call will be directed to a nurse practitioner who will return your call as soon as possible.

A resident physician is on-call for your assistance after hours and on weekends for both internal medicine and general surgery. Please call at 303-318-1540 and the answering service will direct your call to the resident on duty. In case of a life-threatening emergency, always call 911.
